The New Zara Glitter Hairspray Is Mesmerising (And Celeb-Approved)

Publish date: 2024-06-09

If you'd left hair glitter behind in the nineties, it's time to reconsider, because you've not seen the Zara glitter hairspray yet. In yet more exciting beauty collab news, the high street retailer has teamed up with top celebrity hair stylist, Guido Palau, on a new haircare line rolling out from now and into 2024.

For the uninitiated, Guido is the man responsible for some of the most iconic hair moments we've seen on the fashion week runways (from Prada to Dior, Valentino, Loewe, Schiaparelli, Fendi, Versace and more). He also counts the supers – Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford – and celebs – Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga and Adele – as clients.

For his first flex for Zara, Guido has put together the Glitter In Gold Kit (£35.99) – and it's all kinds of gorgeous. It's an edit comprising a gold comb and gold bobby pins to accessorise hair, alongside gold hair gel designed to act “like a cheekbone highlighter to accentuate the hair’s natural shine” and, our personal favourite, the gold glitter spray – which can be misted on lightly for a delicate shimmer, or layered up for a bolder statement.

He's also tapped up Kaia Gerber to become the face of the hair partnership. Speaking in a video with Guido, Kaia revealed: “Every time I've made a rash decision to cut my hair, it's been with you. And you've talked me out of really bad ones, too.” Cute.

We managed to get our hands on the edit just as it's gone live, and we'll definitely be adding the Zara glitter hairspray to our party ensemble. It looks even prettier in person and can add subtle or statement interest depending on how much you spray.

The only drawbacks? The glitter will get everywhere (but it'll give your outfit some extra embellishment) and, we'd love it if the items in the collection were available individually rather than in a set. Gripes aside, the collection is mesmerising and the perfect way to level up your hair for party season.

Here's the proof, courtesy of our now-glittering beauty editor Elle Turner:

Overall, the collection is timely, experimental and surprisingly wearable, but it's also just the start of the collaboration, according to Zara. "A little teaser of what's to come, this four-piece amuse-bouche is a bold introduction to what lies ahead for Zara Hair in 2024," they say. We're already excited for what's to come next.
