Police investigating death, find no evidence of foul play

Green Valley Ranch Hotel/Casino exec Michael Tata was found dead Tuesday at his home just outside Las Vegas. He was 33.

Henderson police said the death is under investigation but there was no evidence of foul play when the body was found at 9:30 a.m. The coroner will file a full report in a few days stating cause of death.

A major figure in Discovery’s current reality skein “American Casino,” Tata was VP of hotel operations at Green Valley Ranch. He was often shown feuding with hotel manager Ninya Perna as they sought to maintain the hotel’s high standards for VIP guests.

Net issued the following statement: “The Discovery Channel is deeply saddened at the sudden passing of Michael Tata. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to his family, friends and co-workers and offer them all of our support during this time of grief.”

Production of the series is ongoing, and the sixth of the 13-episode run will air Friday. Discovery wasn’t sure if or how it would pay tribute to Tata in an upcoming episode.

Tata, a Buffalo, N.Y., native and graduate of UNLV, had been working at Green Valley Ranch for three years. Previously, he was employed at the MGM Grand and Four Seasons in Las Vegas.
